To enhance the experience for our visitors and accommodate our growing collections—including the renowned SFMOMA collection and the Fisher Collection, which is among the best in contemporary art worldwide—SFMOMA underwent an expansion. The redesigned museum, created in partnership with the architectural firm Snøhetta, opened its doors in May 2016. This initiative is not just about altering the museum's physical layout; it aims to strengthen our connection with the community, making SFMOMA a hub for learning, inspiration, and engagement for visitors from the Bay Area and beyond. We are committed to making SFMOMA a focal point for contemporary art and the audiences eager to experience it.
