Science News for Students

Science News for Students

Established in 2003, Science News for Students is a celebrated online platform that offers age-appropriate science news tailored for students, parents, and teachers. It operates under the Science News Media Group, which is part of the Society for Science, a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) status that focuses on engaging the public with scientific research and education. Science News for Students is accessible at no cost and supports the Society's goal of bridging the gap between current scientific discoveries and educational experiences inside and outside the classroom. The Society for Science has a rich history dating back to 1921 when journalist Edward W. Scripps teamed up with California zoologist William Emerson Ritter to create what was then known as Science Service. This organization has been instrumental in bringing the thrill of science and research to the public through its acclaimed publications. Its flagship offering, originally called Science News-Letter, debuted in 1921 and was transformed into a magazine format in 1926. This magazine quickly became a key resource for science news, catering to libraries, schools, and the general public. Renamed Science News in 1966, it has since grown to attract millions of readers each year through its daily online content and biweekly print editions.
