It's the 100th anniversary of Immortality Day, and unfortunately, it looks like the God of Death will return. The known hero, Theodore Glagolev, is a no-show, so you decide it's up to you to save the world by bringing a new life star and excruciating deaths. You play as an office intern in the middle of their job interview.

Combat is implemented by running into them, but you have the stats of your weapons that play into it. The number of strikes and blocks currently equipped plays a factor in initiating combat or whether or not you should. Some enemies and traps are even timing-based. Attack or trigger the obstacle and high tail it out of there to avoid the trap. You can also use these environmental hazards and sliding skills to defeat foes. The Quiet Things features several content warnings for the game's heavy themes. Once Upon a Rogue's Tale progresses slowly, but I didn't mind that. I enjoyed what I was playing, so I implemented new strategies as I went. The slow and methodical approach to the game complimented my playstyle well, and overall, it feels like a game with high replay value. Character deaths and the ironically locked Unlock Ability are among things I didn't experience beyond the other starting characters. Those aspects interest me, but I can’t speak too much on them.

It's all one massive puzzle. What can I do to move the game forward? It's completing fetch quest-like puzzle after fetch quest-like puzzle but laughing throughout, thanks to the wackiness and catered humor. This flow in the gameplay can leave a little to be desired as most players aren't truly doing much, but if the humor hits, you won't care. With just three buttons-Move, Slap, and Jump-at your disposal, the gameplay is refreshingly simple.
