DES MOINES, Iowa - For the third consecutive season, the No. 1 Southern Illinois University softball team (33-19, 21-5) will play in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship after defeating No. 4 Illinois State, 8-3, on Friday. Southern Illinois will play either No. 2 Belmont or No. 3 Northern Iowa in the MVC Championship on Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. There, SIU will look for its first three-peat in program history.

DES MOINES, Iowa - Playing against the host school and No. 8 seed Drake, the No. 1 Southern Illinois University softball team (32-19, 21-5) run-ruled the Bulldogs, 12-4, in five innings. With the win, the Salukis have advanced to the Missouri Valley Conference semifinals where they will play No. 4 Illinois State on Friday, May 9, at 1 p.m. Inside the Box Score Southern Illinois scored 12 runs, its most in a conference tournament game since 1992.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Southern Illinois University softball team has landed six players on the All-Missouri Valley Conference First Team, one on the Second Team, and has received three specialty awards, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Jackie Lis, Anna Carder, Emma Austin, Mikaela Coburn, McKenzie Newcomb, and Emily Williams were all named to the All-MVC First Team while Addi Baker was named to the All-MVC Second Team.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Emma Austin and Emily Williams have received weekly honors from the Missouri Valley Conference after Southern Illinois' final series of the regular season. Austin was awarded her second MVC Player of the Week, while Williams was named the MVC Newcomer of the Week for the fifth time this season. At Evansville, Austin hit for a batting average of .583, going 7-for-12 against the Purple Aces.
