Founded in 1828, The Spectator is recognized as one of Britain's most articulate and impactful magazines. In 2018, after nearly two centuries of publication, we introduced a US edition to share our unique insights, original ideas, and compelling writing with American readers. We noticed a gap in the American media landscape for a magazine that combines intellect and humor without taking itself too seriously. Our contributors do not adhere to a specific political agenda; instead, they are committed to clear thinking, graceful writing, and independent views. With opinions spanning the political spectrum, our writers come from diverse backgrounds. While we don't aim for neutrality—our motto is 'firm, but unfair'—we prioritize creativity and flair in our content.
