Sporting Post

Sporting Post was founded in 1994, coinciding with the legalization of general sports betting in South Africa. There was hope that bookmakers, whose main focus had been horse racing, would quickly adapt to include general sports betting, leading to a rapid expansion of the market. However, this did not happen, and it wasn't until the early 2000s that bookmakers really began to engage with sports betting. Notably, interest in sports betting, particularly for soccer, surged as South Africa prepared to host the 2010 soccer World Cup. As of late 2010, South Africa still has a significant, largely unexplored potential for sports betting.
