Ste. Genevieve Herald
In 1882, Joseph A. Ernst, a German immigrant, launched a small four-page weekly newspaper available in both German and English. This publication quickly created a buzz in Ste. Genevieve. The initial edition of the Ste. Genevieve Herald was sent out through the mail, with a complimentary copy featuring a note that it was being shared "with all the friends we can remember." It also included a request for readers who enjoyed the paper to consider subscribing. Many did just that.
