    At the May 15 Committee of the Whole meeting, manufactured home park resident Matt Coté presented to Revelstoke city council. He’s concerned that the 18 manufactured home parks in Revelstoke will slowly be eliminated, and residents displaced. The city in 2023 adopted the Manufactured Home Park Redevelopment, Residential Tenant Protection and Strata Conversion policy.

    Listen to Revelstoke’s five candidates running for the federal election: Phaedra Idzan for NDP, Mel Arnold for Conservative, Michael Henry for the People’s Party of Canada, Ken Robertson for the Liberals and Owen Madden for the Green Party. Canada’s general federal election is coming up on April 28. The polling station is at the Revelstoke Community Centre. Polls are open that day from 7 am to 7 pm.

    The Settlement Services program at the college here in Revelstoke helped new immigrants get oriented in town. It connected them with services, provided language classes, and helped the new community members integrate. It’s been around for the last 20 years, and the program ended on March 31. The program had been funded by the federal department of Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada since 2005.

    Today’s episode is an audio tour of the Downie Selkirk Mill in Revelstoke. The mill takes up a chunk of prime real estate in town, tucked against the river at the bottom of Southside. Over 200 people work there, making it one of Revelstoke’s largest single employers. The Gormon Group of companies owns Downie Selkirk mill. The company is based in West Kelowna, Nick Arkle is the CEO. The Gormon Group owns a mill is West Kelowna, called Gormon Brothers Lumber.
