Skytrax has named Fastjet Zimbabwe the third-best budget airline in Africa in its airline rankings survey for 2025. The Fastjet Zimbabwe rating comes after the agency released its airline rankings in the annual edition of the Skytrax World Airline Awards. Coming in the top five places in Skytrax’s Best Low-Cost Carriers in Africa were: South Africa’s FlySafair and Lift Airline, Zimbabwe’s Fastjet, followed by Kenya’s JamboJet and Fly540.

South Africa’s low-cost airline, FlySafair, has been rated Africa’s best low-cost carrier for 2025 in the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards. This is in fact, the fourth time the budget airline has been awarded this title. The airline, which launched in October 2014 with just domestic routes, has grown tremendously in its first decade of operations. FlySafair has grown from operating a handful of domestic routes, to an airline that offers both domestic and regional services.

According to Skytrax, Ethiopian Airlines has once again been named ‘Best Airline in Africa’ at the World Airline Awards 2025. In fact, this marks the 8th consecutive year that the airline has earned the title. However, this is not the only accolade that Ethiopian has received in the World Airline Awards 2025 rankings. The airline also ranks tops in various other categories in this year’s Skytrax awards ratings.
