I was scrolling through Instagram the other night and this post popped up about IG series that people should consider doing. I fell for it and watched it and one of the suggestions was sharing “finishing touches”. I’ll be honest, I felt like I was cheating when I decided to write this post based on that, but the fact is that the finishing touches, especially for me, are how I add personality to my outfits. Friends. When we started our podcast four years ago (!!!! Happy 1st day of April friends! March is one of those months where we had 75 degree heat one day, followed by 38 degrees and flurries the next. It makes getting dressed challenging but also gets me out of my end-of-season rut (sweater/jeans/boots rinse + repeat). Here are some of my favorite looks that made me have a little more pep in my step. At the end of the day, you don’t need that exact sweater. This one gives such a similar vibe, and this scarf is very similar.

This year spring break feels like it’s basically the kick off to summer. But alas, I have been collecting some GEMS in my closet to wear. We will have a full week on the beach and I plan on bringing easy dresses. So if you’re in the same boat as me, hope these bring you some inspiration. We went to Miami a few weeks ago, and all my dresses from this brand were perfection. I just ordered this last week and it’s arriving in the next few days. It feels like something I can wear as a coverup or to dinner.

Friends - you know my love for a jacket. It runs true and deep. I’m not going to waste time waxing on about the many reasons I have 30 plus jackets/coats in rotation (my husband counted), but they have been collected over many, many years and always are the way I pull an outfit together in the cooler months.

Friends - I have a certain smugness about me at the moment and it has to do with how I packed for my trip this past weekend. I have officially nailed my carry-on packing. It has only taken 46 years, but this is my 2nd trip in just over a month where I can confidently say I packed strategically, loved my outfits, and travel was hence made smoother by simply sailing on and off the plane - ok, sailing is a stretch as I had 3 children in tow, but they too had their little carry-on suitcases as well.

I still remember my first “purse” - I was 13 years old, and my mom took me shopping at the Hudson Bay in Toronto for my Confirmation outfit. I got a very Amish-looking Laura Ashley dress and a caramel colored Liz Claiborne purse. She was small, had such a long strap on me that we had to knot it at the tippy top to make it shorter. But I thought I had arrived. I put 2 shades of CoverGirl Lipslicks in it and maybe a Maybelline Kissing Kooler (pink and green marble).
