The Voice for Texas Architecture 2025 Design Award Winners April 17, 2025 We are pleased to announce the Texas Society of Architects’ 2025 Design Award winners. After reviewing 194 entries, jurors Germane Barnes, of Studio Barnes in Miami; Barbara Bestor, FAIA, of Bestor Architecture in Los Angeles; Tom Kundig, FAIA, of Olson Kundig Architects in Seattle; and Víctor Legorreta, Hon. FAIA, of LEGORRETA in Mexico City, recognized 19 projects.

Since 2011, Texas Society of Architects has called the building at 500 Chicon home. After two years of research, analysis, and visioning with STG Design in Austin, the Board decided to sell the building to better suit the Society’s and staff needs. “The Texas Society of Architects Executive Committee and Board, as the trusted fiduciaries of the organization, embraced a bold and visionary course of action,” says 2024 President Derwin Broughton, AIA.

Texas Society of Architects welcomes Nick Langenfeld to the staff as Operations & Events Coordinator. Nick will assist in office management and coordination for TxA events, including our Annual Conference & Design Expo. Originally from Austin, Nick attended the University of Texas at Dallas and graduated with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Architects Day 2025 brought together more than 70 Texas Society of Architects members to advocate for the profession on February 11–12. The event, which only occurs every other year during the Texas legislative session, provides a meaningful opportunity for members to meet with legislators in person and amplify TxA’s ongoing advocacy efforts.
