HOUSTON — The Houston Astros placed right-hander Ronel Blanco on the 15-day injured list Thursday after he was diagnosed with inflammation in his right elbow, manager Joe Espada announced. The move is retroactive to Tuesday. Blanco, 31, reported elbow soreness to the team’s medical staff earlier this week following his start last Saturday, in which he pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits and striking out five. He is scheduled to seek a second opinion on the injury next week.

Perez, who reached base five times, drove in a team-high three runs and capped the Cougars’ scoring with his seventh home run of the season. It marked his second four-hit game of the year.
