The Australian Ballet

The Australian Ballet stands as the biggest classical ballet company in Australia. It was established in 1962 through a collaboration between J. C. Williamson Theatres Ltd. and the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust. The founding artistic director was Dame Peggy van Praagh, a dancer, teacher, repetiteur, and director from England. Today, the company is celebrated as one of the leading international ballet companies in the world.
