Every year, the Kingston Chamber Music Festival (KCMF) breathes new life into the genre of classical music with fresh, lively ensembles that surprise and enchant, and the 36th season is no exception. Internationally acclaimed artists assemble from July 24 through August 4 with six concerts performed in Edwards Hall at the University of Rhode Island, where KCMF presents a repertoire spanning the 1700s to the 2000s. “We challenge musicians,” says artistic director Natalie Zhu.

• Overnight visits are open April 1 through October 31, with stays in the lighthouse, foghorn room, and barracks available by reservation. • There’s no shops or restaurants on the island, so be prepared to bring your own food and essentials, and leave no trace. • To protect nesting birds, the wildlife refuge portion of the island is closed to the public March through August 15.

Rhode Island’s growing craft beer scene isn’t quite as small as it used to be – and thanks to a new delivery service, soon it will be more connected than ever. “The spark for BrewBox ignited during my travels, particularly a beer tour in Belgium, where my curiosity and appreciation for craft beer flourished,” shares beer enthusiast Bruno DaCosta. Seeking a way to curate a brewery pilgrimage of sorts without the journey, he created the state’s first beer subscription box, set to kick off in April.
