The Bentley Vanguard
Since 1963, The Vanguard has served as the official campus newspaper for the Bentley University community. This acclaimed student-run publication comes out every other Thursday, providing valuable information and insights on various issues and events that impact the Bentley community. The Vanguard consists of several departments, such as news, sports, arts and entertainment, advertising, marketing, production, business, and photography.

Among those alumni: Boston MedFlight CEO Maura Hughes, MBA ’91, who spoke with students during their visit. While Boston MedFlight bills insurance providers for its services, Hughes says the nonprofit provides roughly $7 million in free care each year to uninsured and underinsured patients. To fill those gaps and maintain operations, Boston MedFlight relies on financial support from individual donors and the hospitals and medical centers it serves.

A Chance Encounter Helps Solve a ProblemThat journey was initiated by Mary Marcel, associate professor of Experience Design. Last year, Marcel attended an American Heart Association luncheon where her former student, Bentley alumna Chantrise Simms-Holliman ’96, was being honored. During the event, Marcel struck up a conversation with another guest at the table: AfrECC board member Dorene McCourt, who explained the nonprofit was looking for help developing its website.

Laure Astourian — Associate Professor, Modern Languages Laure Astourian had a clear vision for her experimental French language course, Francophone Entrepreneurs (MLFR 398). “I wanted to give my students an opportunity to improve their speaking and listening skills while also connecting them with New England’s substantial Francophone entrepreneurial network,” she explains.
