The male Panther of the Year is going to Cooper Willman from the football team. The senior wide receiver from Sterling was named part of the 2024 First Team All-Big South/Ohio Valley Conference as both a wide receiver and an all-purpose player. Willman started all 12 games and set a single game program record for receiving yards against Gardner Webb. Willman recorded 291 yards on 11 receptions with three touchdowns against the Runnin’ Bulldogs.

Wow. It’s been a year full of EIU athletics. From football’s performance against Indiana State to the women’s basketball 100-point game against Morehead State, here are my top 10 moments from the 2024-2025 year. Abby Reinl’s late goal against Southeast Missouri StateReinl’s late goal to help the Panthers secure the win over SEMO was one that showed off Reinl’s craft. Reinl shot outside of the box and with her non-dominant foot. For Reinl to still make that goal, that showed a lot of talent.

The male Panther of the Semester is going to NaKyel Shelton from the men’s basketball team. The senior guard from Chicago started in 28 games for the Panthers throughout the 2024-2025 season. Shelton recorded a career-high 38 points against Morehead State, making it the highest point total from a player in a singular game since February 2004. Shelton recorded nine games where he recorded 20 or more points.

The first Panther of the Week is going to McKenzie Oslanzi from the softball team. The sophomore pitcher from Marseilles went 3-0 against Western Illinois this weekend in Macomb. Throughout the three games, Oslanzi allowed only nine hits and two runs. Oslanzi’s record is now 19-12 throughout the 2025 season. The second Panther of the Week is going to Abbi Hatton from the softball team. The freshman utility from Neoga recorded seven hits, four runs, and one home run throughout the week.
