The Daily Tar Heel
The Daily Tar Heel (DTH) serves as the independent student newspaper for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Established on February 23, 1893, it transitioned to a daily publication in 1929. While the DTH primarily focuses on news and sports related to the university, it also provides extensive coverage of Orange County and the wider North Carolina area. The newspaper is published five times a week during the academic year and once a week during the two summer school sessions at the university. Editorial responsibilities are managed by student editors and a dedicated volunteer staff of around 250 students, making it the largest news outlet in Orange County.
