The DC Line
While Washington, DC does not experience the same lack of news as some other areas, there are still noticeable gaps in coverage that those involved in local issues can see. The DC Line aims to be the primary resource for residents seeking the information they need to engage actively in their community. As a nonprofit, independent, and nonpartisan news organization, our mission has three main goals: - To deliver quality journalism focused on local DC topics, including politics, public policy, education, the environment, and the arts. - To promote civic involvement by creating a space for respectful public conversations. - To equip residents with the necessary tools for meaningful participation. In pursuing these objectives, we look to emulate the successful approaches of other nonprofit news organizations nationwide, like Voice of San Diego, The Texas Tribune, MinnPost, VTDigger, and Maryland Matters. Each of these organizations has developed a distinct blend of content, and we will do the same, especially considering the unique governmental structure of the District, which combines municipal, county, and state roles, alongside its quest to achieve statehood as the 51st state.
