    NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning has joined the ownership group of the National Women’s Soccer League expansion franchise in Denver, the club announced on Tuesday. “It’s a real honor to be part of something so meaningful to the Colorado community,” Manning shared in a statement. “I’m proud to support the growth of women’s sports and excited to help build a club that our city and our state can rally behind.” Manning won the Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos in 2016.

    Racing Louisville forward Kayla Fischer will serve a three-game suspension for a hair-pulling incident that resulted in a red card during Saturday’s match against Angel City, the NWSL announced on Thursday. Fischer was ejected in the 67th minute after a video review showed her pulling Angel City midfielder Madison Hammond down to the ground by her hair on a corner kick. Alyssa Thompson converted the penalty that was awarded as a result, but Louisville held on for the 3-2 win.

Johnson will be tasked with building a roster and hiring staff. “He’s been a part of building some of the most successful organizations in our sport, and we’re thrilled to have him shaping the future of our club,” Rob Cohen, the expansion team’s controlling owner, said in a team statement.

    England goalkeeper Mary Earps has elected to end her national team career before the European Championship in July, she announced on Instagram Tuesday. “‘Never rush something you want to last forever.’ And I didn’t,” the 32-year-old stated in her post. “It’s now the right moment for me to step aside.”Earps was the starting keeper for UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 in England, a tournament her side won, defeating Germany 2-1 in extra time in front of 87,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.
