The Film Magazine
The Film Magazine began as a casual idea among friends during our final year at a university in North Eastern UK in the summer of 2012. By the summer of 2014, it evolved into an active Tumblr blog. Initially, we were a group of seven passionate film enthusiasts from what is often referred to as the "lost generation." To fund our venture, we sold movie-themed merchandise on redbubble.com. As our passion and understanding of the film industry grew, we promoted our brand across various social media platforms. This effort helped us gather the funds and audience necessary to launch our website – thefilmagazine.com.

But it remains a time of year when love, family, and wholesomeness are stuffed down our already turkey-filled necks. For those of you who would rather not indulge in schmaltzy Hallmark movies, re-runs of saccharine classics, or Macaulay Culkin’s antics, there are alternatives available.

Jurassic Park (1993) created a world where dinosaurs and man co-exist, where chaos and control are in constant battle. A world where velociraptors and deinonychus are interchangeable. A world where every dinosaur is impossibly smart, and the human geniuses are dumber than donkeys. Dr Henry Wu (BD Wong) only appeared in Jurassic Park briefly, but the ripples his character created were just as significant as those on the dashboard. As Dr Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) succinctly puts it, ‘Not him. Not him.

Jaws (1975) begins with a body. A body the audience knows was attacked by a shark. But the people of Amity Island, sun-dazed and chilled out, are going to take a little convincing. Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) is the local law enforcement and seemingly the only person around with any sense. Enter Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and Quint (Robert Shaw), two opposing forces ready to battle the beast. The beast in question is a great white unlike any ordinary shark.
