The Florentine
The Florentine began its journey in 2005 as a community-focused news magazine catering to the large English-speaking population in Florence, Italy. U.S. expats Nita and Tony Tucker were taken aback by the absence of an English-language newspaper, which led them to collaborate with the Italian company B’Gruppo srl for the production and distribution of the magazine. Although the Tuckers moved away just two years later, the dedicated team continued to thrive, ensuring that The Florentine is still published today. Currently, The Florentine releases a new issue every month, totaling 12 publications a year. The magazine is available for free at over 130 locations throughout Florence and Tuscany, and since 2015, it has also been distributed in New York City. With a monthly circulation of 10,000 copies and more than 800 subscribers globally, both in print and digital formats, The Florentine remains a vital resource for the community.

In the immediate aftermath of the war, the reconstruction effort prioritized the city centre, particularly the bridges across the Arno river, which had all been destroyed, except for the Ponte Vecchio.
