The Front Row Center
Why did I start Usher Nonsense and then Front Row Center? In my view, theatre is one of the top reasons to celebrate being human. I love stepping out of my home and into a dark theatre full of strangers to watch talented actors perform. It’s all about the inspiration for me. I willingly let myself be guided through any story they wish to tell, as long as they keep me engaged. If I attend a show that doesn’t quite hit the mark, I feel compelled to steer you away from it. I don’t want you to waste your time at a performance that doesn’t live up to expectations. I’ll do whatever it takes to redirect you – I’ll block the entrance, swing from the rafters, or even shout “FIRE!” just to keep you from feeling let down. I’ll suggest you do something more worthwhile with your evening, like saving your money for a dinner with a friend you haven’t caught up with in ages or taking a stroll with your dog, child, or partner. Even going to bed early is a better choice than attending a mediocre show. I admit it: I have high standards when it comes to ushering and theatre experiences.

By Holli HarmsLiving in the now, in your art, is what John Mullican’s new play “In the Unlikely Event of an Actual Emergency“, playing at The Chain Theatre, is entreating us to practice. Fear stops us from doing our art and from being the whole person we can be, but what if we were faced with an unbelievable life-threatening moment that wakes us up to our true selves? That life-threatening moment comes to life in this remarkable true story about the accident on January 23, 1982.

By Tulis McCallIf you are inclined to see “All The Beauty In The World” – and it would be a worthwhile adventure – be aware that this is not a play by any definition. It is a more of a TED Talk. And it is a lovely one. It is lovely because it is a reflection of Patrick Bringley who is kind, intelligent and insightful. For the better part of ten years he was a guard in the of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He spent a great deal of time in the Old Master Wing.
