Cantele as one of “the most decorated coaches in the history of college lacrosse.” As a student, Cantele played on the women’s lacrosse team that she later returned to coach.

By Vincent DiFonzo, Editor-in-ChiefQuarry Pond will remain closed until at least early March due to the presence of H5N1, or bird flu, found in dead geese last month, according to a campus-wide email sent by Campus Safety Executive Director Alex Wiltz. The pond has been closed to visitors since Jan. 18, when the Pennsylvania Game Commission responded to a report of multiple dead geese spotted near the pond.

Carr will challenge incumbent mayor Rita Frealing, who recently announced her intention to seek re-election. Carr works as the founding executive and artistic director at the Gettysburg Community Theater located at 49 York St. He founded the theater in 2009.

First elected with about 58% of the vote in 2021, Frealing has served as the town’s first black and first female mayor. A native of Gettysburg, Frealing graduated from Pennsylvania State University and previously worked as a reporter and an attorney.

By Vincent DiFonzo, Editor-in-ChiefOn Wednesday afternoon, the Gettysburg swim team contacted the Gettysburgian to release a statement addressing an incident in which a racial slur was cut into the body of a swim team member by another team member at an informal social gathering. The College has since confirmed that the student who cut the slur onto another student is no longer enrolled at the school.
