We stay on Kauai’s North Shore in the summer and Kauai’s South Shore in the winter. Why? Because we’re overly cautious. The weather on Kauai in June is warm and tropical, as you should expect of a Hawaiian Island. Even on the wet North Shore, your odds of sunny days and calm oceans are worth betting on in June. But with great weather comes great responsibility. Take care of your wallet by considering visiting Kauai in the shoulder seasons.

We’ll happily take a trip to Kauai any month of the year, but I love taking the family to Kauai in May. Shoulder season is my favorite time to travel!Here’s why: visiting Kauai in May has a lot of upsides and very few downsides. The winter crowd has left, spring break is over, and the busy summer season has not yet descended. Plus the weather is nice and it’s on the cheaper side as far as your wallet is concerned. It’s one of those excellent pockets in the shoulder season that is calling your name.
