The Levant

The Levant

"A free press can be both good and bad; however, without freedom, it can only be bad." (Albert Camus) Albert Camus was a French-Algerian philosopher, writer, and journalist. He became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature after Rudyard Kipling, winning the award at just 44 years old in 1957, while Kipling was 41 when he received it in 1907. The Levant News was founded in June 2014 by a dedicated team of journalists, analysts, and researchers who share a deep passion for the Middle East, a region often discussed but frequently misunderstood. Media coverage of the Middle East has often been marred by bias, prejudice, and political agendas, which distort the truth. We believe it is our responsibility to provide accurate reporting. Our commitment to journalism is anchored in five core ethical values: accuracy, independence, impartiality, humanity, and accountability, which are always evident in our work. Our goal is to offer our readers a genuine glimpse into the Middle East. We approach our coverage unapologetically, striving to remain unbiased, even if it occasionally stirs controversy. The truth can provoke strong reactions, especially in the Middle East, where politics and policies are intricately linked, leading to misunderstandings and misinterpretations. We focus on the regional perspective, aiming to help our readers understand the realities of life from the viewpoint of locals, rather than through the lens of preconceived notions about the area. Our journey reflects a deep affection for the Middle East, its people, and its culture, transcending sectarian and political divides. We hope you enjoy reading our work!
