LMU women’s tennis faces adversity and keeps pushing

With the start of April, the collegiate tennis season is officially in its home stretch. Teams are starting to wrap up their regular season matches while also preparing for the postseason. LMU's women's tennis team finds itself in unfamiliar territory at this point. With a current record of 4-10 and only four matches remaining, the Lions have guaranteed themselves a losing record for the season. This will be the first time since 2015 that they failed to end the season with a winning record.

LMU men’s basketball's season came to a close after a 94-77 loss to Washington State University in the third round of the West Coast Conference (WCC) tournament. Emotions were high as the Lions left the court in Las Vegas, especially for team captain Alex Merkviladze. Merkviladze, a graduate student who has spent the last four years with the Lions, put on the LMU jersey for the last time in his collegiate career on March 8, marking the end of an era.

Coming into the 2025 season, LMU beach volleyball was ranked No. 7 in the nation before even competing in a single match. After an West Coast Conference (WCC) championship win, another trip to the NCAA Tournament and a final national ranking of No. 8 last year, this preseason poll came as no surprise. In the 10 years head coach John Mayer has been at the helm, beach volleyball has been on a historic run, becoming one of the most successful athletic programs in LMU history.
