The interior designer has been using the sealant to make household objects such as cushions. Next, he grabs some blue and orange pool noodles that he’s turning into a chair. “I’m really interested in doing things differently,” he adds.

Spotting Charlie Luxton’s home when approaching it from the street is no easy feat. But, as the architect – whose namesake practice specialises in sustainable, site-specific projects – explains, that was all part of the plan. “The star of the show is the landscape,” he says, explaining his decision to “tuck” his house into a gently sloping hillside.
