Racers baseball dominates opening series vs. Western Illinois

The Murray State baseball team had an interesting opening weekend to their season, as they were not able to play their first series at home against South Dakota State due to inclement weather. Instead, the Racers traveled to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to play a doubleheader against Western Illinois on Friday, Feb. 14. The Racers got off to a hot start in the first game and scored six runs in the first inning, and this was due in no small part to a three-run homer hit by junior catcher Will Vierling.
Softball splits Valentine’s Day doubleheader vs Western Michigan

The Murray State softball team traveled to Martin, Tennessee, for the Skyhawk Invitational this past weekend to play a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 14, against the Broncos of Western Michigan. The Racers split the series with a loss in the first game and a win in the second, which brings their record to 3-3. Murray State held a 1-0 lead in the first game until the top of the seventh inning, where Western Michigan was able to score seven runs to take a 7-1 lead.
Boggess looks to inspire younger generation of fans

Trey Boggess may not be a five-star recruit or a highly touted transfer, but the Murray State basketball walk-on may be one of the most important players on this year’s team. Boggess was born and raised in Murray, and grew up idolizing Murray State basketball players such as Isaiah Canaan, Cameron Payne and Ja Morant. These players defined collegiate athletics in Murray during the 2010s, and for Boggess they were role models for his own basketball journey.
