The News Observer

The News Observer

The News Observer has a rich history that traces back through several newspapers that have served Fannin County, Georgia. Community Newspapers, Inc., which owns The News Observer, first entered the newspaper scene in Blue Ridge, Georgia, when it acquired The Blue Ridge Summit-Post in the early 1970s. Shortly after, a competing free newspaper called The News Herald was launched. In around 1981, another free publication, The Observer, was introduced as a sister paper to The Summit-Post. In 1989, the current owners of Community Newspapers, Inc. took over the company. The following year, they bought The News Herald and combined it with The Observer, resulting in the formation of The News Observer.
