The Open Notebook
The Open Notebook is a non-profit organization recognized under 501(c)(3) that offers valuable tools and resources for journalists in the fields of science, environment, and health, regardless of their experience level. Our mission is based on two key beliefs: first, that effective science journalism is vital for society, and second, that the best way for journalists to improve their skills is through hands-on practice within a welcoming and diverse community of peers who are all working to enhance their abilities.

Léelo en EspañolIdeally, Emily Ong would be interviewed in her kitchen. A dementia advocate who lives in Singapore, Ong was diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer’s in 2017 (she was later reassessed as having mild cognitive impairment, which raises the risk of dementia).

This free resource, the Science Reporting Navigator, is being produced through a partnership between The Open Notebook and the Reynolds Journalism Institute. This toolkit stems from our core belief that science isn’t just a specialty beat.
