Thank you for this. There's no way we can understand how a fascist dictator takes control unless we look at Germany in the late 30's. Those who say it can't happen here need to wake up. It not only is happening, it has happened. Trump has cemented his power. The concrete is just curing. Soon it will be as strong as Hoover Dam. There have only been a few potholes in Trump's road to absolute control. There have been some court cases he lost, but the worst so far has been Signalgate.

We in Aotearoa-NZ stand with our Australian cousins but as colonial settler states like USA and Canada, we look within at he unfinished business of conciliation with peoples whose very language is part of the land. "The last shall be first" as that anti-imperialist born in Bethlehem a while ago was reported as teaching. We know that whatever lessons for "liberté, egalité and sobriety" define this (thanks Carol) post Mafia-cosplay moment, world view will be central.

The world owes another debt of thanks to Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Not only has Ukraine been fighting to hold back Russia’s aggression on behalf of us all, the spectacle of Donald Trump and JD Vance acting like mafia mob bosses has done what previously seemed impossible. The seismic shockwaves that have been pulsing through the international order, felt but ignored by world leaders and nation states, have now finally caused the first real earthquake.

Yes, the newness of what you are doing comes across, and I sense a feeling of liberation - almost euphoria as you dive straight into new, thrilling unknowns, with unending sets of possibilities.
