Allen, 35, is accused of delivering a blow so hard to his 17-month-old daughter’s abdomen that her mesentery was “shredded,” Wagner said. She died early on Feb. 25, 2021.

    ALLEN COUNTY, Ind.---There are few things sadder than watching a mother cry over her dead child. But that’s what the court witnessed Tuesday when Kayla Vachon, a forklift operator who held down two jobs to financially support her family, briefly sobbed during her testimony in Allen Superior Court. On trial is Michael T. Allen,Jr., 35,  her former partner and father of their 17-month-old daughter, Kaivonni. She died very early on February 25, 2021.

Leon Lanaila Harris, 51, who lives in a small home near Study Park southwest of downtown, was charged in March with three counts dealing in a narcotic drug, a level 4 felony; unlawful firearm possession by a felon, also a Level 4 felony,  and three counts money laundering, Level 6.

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. ---From January through April, 747 people in Allen County were arrested for drugs, either dealing or possession. It’s the second biggest category in state arrest data after traffic offenses. But there’s no category for money laundering, although the crime exists in state code. In Indiana, money laundering is a Level 6 felony, but can be enhanced to a Level 5 or Level 4 felony “depending on the value of the proceeds and the intent behind the actions,” state code says.

    ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. ---The first words out of the alleged perp’s mouth when Detective Brett Eley identified himself were telling. “Oh, s—t,” Billy Ray Creamer, Sr. uttered. “I know what this is about.”Creamer, Sr. , of Yoder, was accused of exposing himself to a minor, to whom he is related, on May 5 of last year, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Eley.
