Rather than purchasing multiple gifts for each other this year, my husband and I decided to splurge on a getaway to the Texas hill country. Fredericksburg, to be exact. This quaint, historic German town oozes charm and southern hospitality. It’s also nestled in the foothills of Texas wine country. Boasting over 70 vineyards and wineries, this sleepy little town has produced top-ranked wines and has earned quite a reputation as an excellent destination.
Texas is now home to 15 Michelin Stars. Seven of them were awarded to Austin restaurants.

Finally, the Michelin guide has finally graced the Lonestar State. On Monday, Nov. 14, the winners were announced, and 15 Texas restaurants received a Star, seven of which went to Austin-area restaurants. As an Austinite and a foodie, I agree with several of the choices, but I’m also left scratching my head about a couple of them. Have you heard, kids?! Danish artist Thomas Dambo revealed his newest troll creation in Pease Park in Austin, Texas, this May, and it’s fabulous! Pease Park underwent a $15 million renovation near Kingsbury Commons starting in 2021, so it only made sense that Dambo included his magical creature to oversee the beautifully created beloved capitol city park. Malin’s Fountain is tucked in toward the backend of the park, right off the main trails. You can’t miss her, since she is 18 feet tall.
