The Six Fifty

Welcome to The Six Fifty, a publication dedicated to showcasing the vibrant life, culture, and ideas of the SF Peninsula, which corresponds to the 6–5–0 area code. Our team of local journalists dives into this intriguing part of California, nestled between San Francisco to the north and San Jose to the south. This unique region is known for its impressive waves, gigantic pumpkins, and even some legendary unicorns. Here, you can find everything from Michelin-starred dining to cozy dive bars tucked away in the woods, and even vending machines that serve up hot bowls of ramen. While the spotlight often shines on major tech companies, we focus on the everyday experiences of local life. At thesixfifty.com, we provide insights on where to buy fresh catch from the fishing boats at Pillar Point Harbor, explore the Baylands’ running trails, and connect with new friends to discover your own version of the Peninsula. We’re committed to keeping you updated on the latest events while uncovering the many hidden gems in the area.

In 2015, when Geoff Kober was working at a San Francisco cafe, gluten-free bread was a staple on supermarket shelves. But even with a decade of sales and traction to perfect the recipe, the product was still subpar for Kober. “At the time, gluten-free bread was inherently not user-friendly, and it was often underbaked and sticky,” he said. Working with these deficiencies was so frustrating for Kober that he realized he needed to create something better. Young Kobras was born out of this frustration.
