    Grant McLure of Gillette has been charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing a vehicle from Moorcroft that he had seen for sale on Facebook. An officer from the Moorcroft Police Department was called out on February 26 at around 1:50 a.m. for a report of a truck leaving a premises in town towing another vehicle on a flat bed trailer. The reporting party believed the vehicle had been stolen.

    While most of Wyoming was experiencing slow growth or even decline last year, Crook County stood well ahead of the pack in population increase. In fact, the local growth rate was more than double the national average and six times higher than the Wyoming average. According to the latest statistics from the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division, the number of people living in Crook County grew by 2.4% between July of 2023 and 2024. That’s 179 new people joining the community across the year.

However, the officer elections had to be postponed after it was pointed out that the party had failed to provide proper notice of the meeting. The elections were rescheduled for Monday, March 31.
