Crook County Volunteer Fire Department has launched its annual raffle, this year for the chance to win either a cow buffalo hunt with processing or a Henry lever action .22 mag custom engraved. The drawing will take place on October 15. The hunt can either be redeemed right away or for the 2026 season.

Presented by the Wyoming Hunger Initiative, the program involves simply adding a little extra to your vegetable garden, through which you can provide fresh produce for local people who are facing food insecurity. Gillette man charged for vehicle theft

Grant McLure of Gillette has been charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing a vehicle from Moorcroft that he had seen for sale on Facebook. An officer from the Moorcroft Police Department was called out on February 26 at around 1:50 a.m. for a report of a truck leaving a premises in town towing another vehicle on a flat bed trailer. The reporting party believed the vehicle had been stolen.
Population still rising

While most of Wyoming was experiencing slow growth or even decline last year, Crook County stood well ahead of the pack in population increase. In fact, the local growth rate was more than double the national average and six times higher than the Wyoming average. According to the latest statistics from the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division, the number of people living in Crook County grew by 2.4% between July of 2023 and 2024. That’s 179 new people joining the community across the year.
Park County GOP postpones officer elections after mistake

POWELL — Park County Republicans were supposed to pick their leaders for the next two years during a Thursday night meeting in Cody. However, the officer elections had to be postponed after it was pointed out that the party had failed to provide proper notice of the meeting. The elections were rescheduled for Monday, March 31.

According to statistics from the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division, women in this county earn 58 cents to the dollar on men’s wages, taking home an average monthly pay check of $3341 compared to the average male earning of $5722.

Following a press conference, Gray hand-delivered a nine-page letter with over 80 pages of attachments to Gov. Mark Gordon’s office — all of which were provided to the News Letter Journal by Gray’s office upon request.
