America’s Heartland Packing begins operations in Warren County

The America’s Heartland Packing beef harvest facility officially began operations in Warren County on April 10. The $800 million plant built by American Food Groups will be their largest beef processing facility in the country at over 1 million square feet, or 19 acres, under one roof. The plant is located on Veterans Memorial Parkway, just east of Wright City.
First Fridays returning to Wright City

First Fridays will be returning to Wright City this summer for the fifth year in a row after the Downtown Revitalization Committee received board approval for their special event permits. The downtown festival, traditionally held on First Street in Wright City, will take place on May 2, June 6, June 27 and August 1. The events include a variety of vendors, attractions and musical performances and drew crowds as large as 2,000 last year.
Progress continues at Invenergy Solar project in Warren County

The Warren County Commissioners met with representatives from Invenergy, the company building the Split-Rail Solar Project on April 10. Matt Clausen, a project manager with Invenergy, said they were anticipating the delivery of large equipment that would impact traffic in the area, hopefully by the end of the month. “Best case scenario at this point, I think, would be the week of (April) 28th.

Families throughout Warren County enjoyed the spring weather at Easter Egg hunts in Warrenton and Wright City. Wright City Parks held it's annual Easter Egg Hunt at Diekroeger Park including special prize eggs and a visit from the Easter Bunny, who arrived with the Wright City Fire Protection District. The Fellowship Baptist Church in Warrenton also held its annual Eggapalooza with thousands of eggs for children to find and enjoy.
Wright City board approves bid for new infield dirt at Ruge Park ballfields

The Wright City Board of Aldermen approved a bid to purchase new infield dirt for one of the ballfields at Ruge Park at a cost of $6,700 at their March 27 meeting. Parks Director Stuart Bruning said this was the first step in the process and that he hoped to purchase additional dirt for the remaining fields, but this was all the parks department had funds for at this time.
Warrenton Board approves budget adjustments at April 1 meeting

The Warrenton Board of Aldermen approved a budget adjustment increasing the city’s planned expenditures for fiscal 2025 by just shy of $240,000 following a request by Finance Director Meghan Waelder at their April 1 meeting. Waelder said she was making the adjustments due to some budgeting errors and unplanned expenses that arose in the first couple months of the year.
Wright City board passes ordinance requiring road surety bonds for developers

Developers in Wright City will now be required to submit assurances they will return roads around their construction sites to their original states following completion, after the board passed an ordinance at their March 27 meeting. The ordinance passed unanimously. Alderman Ramiz Hakim, who sponsored the bill, said he wanted to put in place to ensure damages to roads in the city are handled by developers, instead of placing the costs on taxpayers.
Warren County 911 Dispatch receives voter approval for sales tax increase

The Warren County Emergency Communications Center received its first sales tax increase since its inception in 1994 after voters passed Prop E Tuesday with 66.86% of voters supporting the ballot initiative. It will be the first sales tax increase the center has received since its existing sales tax was passed in 1994. According to unofficial election results, the measure received 2,798 votes for passage compared to 1,387 votes, or 33.14%, who were in opposition.
