The Wright City wastewater treatment facility’s capacity is expanding from 500,000 gallons per day to 3.5 million gallons per day as construction on the project nears completion. The plant is operated by the Public Water Supply District No. 2 and the expansion is being funded in part by the America’s Heartland Packing facility, which began operations earlier this month.
Wright City Fire Protection District plans to award bids for new fire station

The Wright City Fire Protection District planned to award a $9.2 million bid for a design-build contract for a new Station 1 and upgrades to Station 3 at the May 8 board of directors meeting. Those funds are part of the $11-million bond issue approved by voters in November 2024. Of those funds, $6.7 million will be dedicated to the construction of a new Station 1 and the remaining $2.5 million will be allocated to upgrades to Station 3 at the intersection of Routes WW and J in Lincoln County.

Wright City to add a batting cage to Ruge Park

Wright City Parks Director Stuart Bruning received approval from the board of aldermen to build a batting cage at Ruge Park at the April 24 board meeting. Bruning said the Wright City Parks Foundation had received a $5,000 Operation Round Up grant from the Cuivre River Electric Community Trust to cover costs for a batting cage at Ruge Park. He clarified that he had budgeted $10,000 for the batting cage and the rest of the funds would be covered by the parks foundation.
Warren County Commissioners meet with Bluebird Solar developers

Representatives from the Bluebird Solar project will work to address issues with landscape screening after meeting with the Warren County Commissioners on May 1. The Bluebird solar project is the smaller of the two in Warren County and is being developed by DE Shaw Renewable Investments. The district occupies roughly 1,800 acres between Highway A and W in northern Warren County and should produce roughly 139 megawatts of power, according to previous Record reporting.

First grade students from Wright City East Elementary visited the Coastal Cold Storage Refrigeration Plant on a “meet the neighbors” field trip on the morning of May 2. Students heard from President John Dunard and Jamie Gladney with Coastal Cold Storage about what they do at the plant and how it works. Before students visited the warehouse, where temperatures hover around 34 degrees, Gladney told students about what kind of products they store there, like frozen foods.
Truesdale board approves payment for Smith Street project

The Truesdale Board of Aldermen unanimously approved an invoice to TS Banze construction in the amount of roughly $313,000 for the substantial completion of the Smith Street project. Mayor Jerry Cannon did clarify the city was withholding roughly $30,000 for retainage which would be released to the contractor once a punch list of final clean up was completed. City Clerk Elsa Smith-Fernandez was glad to have the work completed and remarked it was likely one of the worst streets in the city.

Wright City kicked off the summer season with the first of the city's First Fridays events on May 2. The events are held on the first fridays of May, June, July and August and include vendors, fun for the kids and live music on Second Street in downtown Wright City. The Wright City Downtown Revitalization Committee has been planning the events for the past five years as they continue to grow. Moving forward, the city will hold events on June 6, June 27 and August 4.

Wright City Parks held its annual Earth Day event at Diekroeger and Ruge Parks on April 26. Parks department staff and volunteers from the Warrenton Girl Scout Troop 9247 helped clean up the parks and plant trees and flowers in plants around the parks. “Today we had our annual Earth Day event, it’s something we’ve done the last four or five years and our goal is to do things in the park that are nature-related,” said Parks Director Stuart Bruning.
