The Warren County Commissioners met with representatives from Invenergy, the developer for the Split-Rail solar project, on June 12 to hear an update on their progress. The project covers roughly 4,000 acres on 30 interconnected properties around Routes A and W in Warren County. The project is expected to be completed by the summer 2026 and will produce roughly 300 megawatts of power, according to previous Record reporting.

The struggle to repair Indian Head Lodge Road has finally come to an end as the Wright City Board of Aldermen approved a cost-share agreement with the residents of the Spring Lakes, Villas at Spring Lakes and Greenfield Estates subdivisions to cover the $68,310 bid to overlay the road. The agreement was approved 2-1 with Aldermen Don Andrews and Kim Arbuthnot voting for the agreement and Alderman Karey Owens voting against.

Wright City held its annual flag retirement ceremony, on Flag Day, June 14, at Diekroeger Park. The ceremony is held to properly dispose of the flags by burning them, once their life of service has ended. There was also a brief service to provide the flags with the reverence they deserved before they were laid to rest. The Wright City Fire Protection District was on hand to replace the flag at Diekroeger Park and the Wright City Scout Troop 835 helped to dispose of the flags.

Ed Smith, an investigator with the Warren County Prosecuting Attorney’s office, was named as the Investigator of the Year by the Missouri Investigators Association on May 21. The award follows his recognition as the Outstanding Support Staff of the Year by the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys in August 2024. Smith was nominated for the award by Darrell Moore, the executive director of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.

Once he reached his junior year, he began considering a career working on heavy equipment. A year later he was accepted into State Tech’s ThinkBIG program to work with Caterpillar and learn how to work on their engines as a technician.
