The Wright County Monitor

The Wright County Monitor

The Wright County Monitor began its journey in 1869, thanks to Will F. Smith, who was its inaugural publisher, though he only held the position for six months. Over the next century, the paper saw 11 different publishers. Several of these publishers had previously worked at newspapers in the nearby counties of Franklin and Butler. The Monitor is recognized as the first newspaper in Clarion and has outlasted four other local papers that were established in the area. Initially, it was located in the Elliott Block on the historic Main Street of Clarion, and today, its office remains just a few blocks away from that original site.
