The Young Folks

The Young Folks is a lively and inviting platform designed for younger audiences. It aims to provide a fresh and relatable take on various forms of entertainment, including films, books, music, television, and video games. The journey began in 2010 when two friends, Luciana Villalba and Gabrielle Bondi, felt frustrated by the lack of diverse viewpoints in entertainment reviews. They decided to create The Young Folks as a space to express their own opinions, which they felt were often missing from the critiques they encountered. This platform also served as a way to share their thoughts on the latest movies, books, and catchy songs with their friends and anyone interested. Over time, more readers expressed interest in contributing to The Young Folks, leading to a broader coverage of entertainment and pop culture topics. This growth resulted in a team of over 50 volunteer writers who contribute articles and reviews on a weekly basis. The Young Folks eventually gained recognition as a Tomato-approved publication by Rotten Tomatoes. Our mission at The Young Folks is to create a space that embodies the voices of our generation. We recognize that there isn't a single voice that represents us all; instead, we celebrate the diverse and fascinating perspectives that make our generation unique. We are the young folks.
