Merlin points to two key factors accentuating the priority of addressing pain in HIV care. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is at the heart of modern HIV prevention strategies, but what about post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)? Does it still have a role to play? At this year's IDWeek conference, Darrell H.S. Tan, M.D., FRCPC, argued that it does. “PEP is critical part of a comprehensive menu of prevention options,” said Tan, an infectious disease physician at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, during a session devoted to debating key questions in HIV medicine.
