    WORCESTER – Superintendent of Worcester Public Schools Rachel Monárrez, Ph.D., will step down at the end of June. The 2024-2025 school year is her third as superintendent. The Worcester Public Schools released a statement announcing Monárrez’s departure on Thursday, April 17. In a letter to families and staff members, Monárrez said she accepted a position as superintendent in California, where she resided before moving to Worcester to lead the city’s public schools.

    WORCESTER – Federal prosecutors announced drug charges against a local man on Monday, April 14, for pressing pills containing methamphetamine. Prosecutors say that Tong Tran, 34, of Worcester faces federal charges of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. Tran appeared in court for arraignment on Monday. Allegations filed in charging documents allege that on around Sept. 19, 2024,  Tran allegedly attempted to ship a package at a Worcester Post Office.

    AUBURN – Massachusetts State Police Detective arrested an Auburn Police Officer Dominick Boschetto on Monday, April 14, according to a statement by Auburn Chief of Police Todd Lemon. In a statement released by the Auburn Police Department, Lemon said that state police detectives obtained a warrant for Boschetto’s arrest The warrant resulted from an online sting operation in Berkshire County.
