Town Tribune
In March 2016, Marylou Schirmer and Kate Mattiace took over the Citizen News with a commitment to maintain local journalism and keep hometown stories alive in New Fairfield and Sherman. Renamed as the Town Tribune, the new team worked hard to ensure the newspaper’s continuity. They swiftly transitioned from traditional paste-up methods to digital production and launched the first local news website within six months. Ms. Schirmer and Ms. Mattiace collaborate closely in their roles as Advertising Director and Editor, respectively, to produce the weekly newspaper that they have cherished over the years. The Town Tribune serves the community by delivering valuable information and supporting local organizations through its print publication. It is distributed for free on a weekly basis to all residents of New Fairfield and Sherman, with subscription options available for readers outside the area.
