Pamela Jean (Henkel) Steffen of Walnut Grove, formerly of Lamberton, MN, passed away surrounded by family on March 21, 2025 at the age of 71. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Immediately following there will be a gathering of fellowship at the Walnut Grove American Legion. A private family burial will be held at the Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Donald “Donnie” Schettler, age 81 of Tracy, formerly of Wilmont, passed away peacefully March 24, 2025, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery at a later date.

Just a little over a year ago, Tracy Area High School senior Trevor Smith’s car was broadsided by a charging semi and pushed into a ditch as he was going to his home in Balaton from Tracy after school. Trevor didn’t walk away from the scary scene, but his injuries weren’t severe enough to keep him in the hospital very long. Even so, the accident did put his immediate future in question. “The day after, when I started remembering things, I thought, ‘Wow, this could’ve been it,’” Smith said.

Keni Flesner Hylbak, age 68 of Circle Pines, passed away peacefully at the hospital on March 12, 2025 with her husband of 38 years by her side. Keni was born March 25, 1956, to Kenneth and Rae Ann (Penke) Flesner of Milroy. Keni grew up in Milroy, graduating from Milroy High School in 1974. In September of 1986 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hylbak. She enjoyed traveling around the country with Ken on his Harley Davidson.

Eunice HErrick makes the trip from Lynd to Balaton every other Thursday to teach line dancing at the Balaton Community Center. Although dancing — and dances — are now considered somewhat of a lost art in these parts compared to decades ago, there are still those who appreciate Herrick’s efforts and the opportunity to strut their stuff.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 6:30. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to services at the church. A private burial will be at the Tracy City Cemetery at a later date.
