Triple R
3RRR began its journey in 1976, broadcasting from the studios of 3ST, the student radio station at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, which is now known as RMIT University. Initially, it operated under the name 3RMT with an educational license. By 1979, the station moved to Fitzroy and changed its name to 3RRR. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, it became a key player in the post-punk and new wave music scenes. In late 2004, dedicated supporters raised sufficient funds to purchase and relocate to new facilities at the intersection of Blyth and Nicholson Streets in Brunswick East, following the expiration of their 20-year lease on the previous location in Victoria Street, Fitzroy.
