Truman State University Press

Truman State University Press

Founded in 1986, Truman State University Press aims to publish peer-reviewed research and literature for both scholars and the general public, with its initial focus on sixteenth-century European history. Over the years, the Press has gained recognition for its exceptional titles, themes, and authors within its Early Modern Studies series, which serves as a leading platform for interdisciplinary exploration of the Renaissance and Reformation periods. In addition to its work in Early Modern Studies, the Press produces significant publications related to the American Midwest and various themes in American history and studies, including the Truman Legacy Series. Its literary offerings feature poetry through the New Odyssey Series, a Contemporary Nonfiction Series, and the Chariton Review, a literary journal. Since 1997, the Press has awarded the T. S. Eliot Prize annually, honoring the best poetry collection in English and commemorating the legacy of the renowned Missourian, T. S. Eliot. In 2014, the Press introduced the Notable Missourians series for young readers and a series focused on Education and the Liberal Arts. Additionally, the Young Voices of Missouri project, which began in 2016 as a special issue of Chariton Review, showcases the creative works of high school students from Missouri.
