WAPAKONETA — The gymnasium at Wapakoneta Elementary School was buzzing with excitement Friday afternoon as hundreds of students packed the bleachers for a high-energy kickoff event supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Dayton. At the heart of the celebration was a powerful message: kids helping kids. The school has a long-standing tradition of raising funds and collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House, which provides free stays for families with children undergoing hospital care.

Vivian Fisher, 7th Grade and Reaghan Hammel, 5th grade, from Wapakoneta Middle School, were chosen as honored artists for the 45th Annual Youth Art Month and Young People’s Art Exhibition sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association. Creative works from Ohio students K through 8 were on display at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. This year’s show includes 125 student artworks from all over the state. It's a great honor for Vivian and Reaghan to be a part of this exhibition.
