The last several months have been an absolutely brutal time to be in the retail space. Big Lots shut down a couple different Iowa stores. Party City is going out of business, with stores in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin closing soon. Kohl's announced they would be closing 27 stores, two of which in Illinois. Joann, who has a store in Dubuque, announced a "going out of business sale," while Hooters announced it would be entering bankruptcy too.

A horrifying story impacting nearly 100 children has emerged from a small town in Iowa. Per KWWL, authorities in southeast Iowa have said 88 children were put in protective custody following reports of child abuse as well as child endangerment emerged from a camp in Columbus Junction. Agencies responded to the camp on June 12th and 13th following several reports of abuse.
