Indian Trails Country Club is seeking assistance in trying to replace a 60-year-old sprinkler system that is currently utilized at the golf course in Beemer. In March, the ITCC Board of Directors submitted a Louis & Abby Faye Dinklage Foundation grant request to the Cuming County Board, asking for $1.8 million to assist with the project. At that time the board took no action but asked for more information before deciding if the request should be passed onto the Dinklage Foundation.

A familiar face will be seen in the community as West Point native Jayde Teutsch has joined the West Point News staff. Teutsch was an intern for West Point News last summer, and returns to the staff in a full-time role. She will primarily be involved in the news department, but will assist with various office duties as well. “I’m excited to work with the community again, and share people’s stories,” Teutsch said.

Committed to strengthening the beef industry, Keith Kreikemeier joined the Nebraska Beef Council board on January 1 of this year. As a member of the Board of Directors, Kreikemeier will serve District 3 through December of 2028. Counties within the District 3 region are: Cuming, Burt, Cedar, Dixon, Dakota, Pierce, Wayne, Thurston, Madison and Stanton. “Keith brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to the Nebraska Beef Council Board.

As West Point Dance Company continues to grow, owner Michaela Graybeal came to the realization that more space was needed. In year seven, Graybeal noted this was the biggest year yet for dancers at WPDC. “At the end of last season, I had that realization of needing more space. It was just something we couldn’t hold off on anymore with all the kiddos,” Graybeal said.

After coming up with a clutch hit at the plate, Bryce Popken took the mound for the final five outs to help GACC-WPB secure a 5-1 win over DC West in the C-1 District baseball tournament last Thursday at Malcolm. With scoring limited, Popken came up with a clutch two-out, three-run RBI triple in the 5th inning. That one swing changed the complexion of the game. “It’s always fun being able to make good plays for your team, and always helping the team get better and better,” Popken said.
