Wilfried

Wilfried

Wilfried was a unique publication in the Flemish media landscape, offering a comprehensive perspective on Belgium as a whole. For the first time, journalists, reporters, non-fiction authors, photographers, and illustrators from Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels came together to explore their diverse and often divided nation. Our driving force was the desire for knowledge, a passion for discovery, and a hunger for storytelling, covering everything from Welkenraedt to Ostend, while staying clear of the political fray in the Wetstraat. Inspired by Star Trek's famous motto, we aimed to explore the lesser-known corners of Belgium, where a small village in Luxembourg or a campsite in Hastière held just as much significance as a bustling city center. Occasionally, we were likened to the New World Magazine. We placed a high value on literature and literary non-fiction, showcasing works from authors like Lieve Joris. Bookstores were as vital to us as newsstands. We also highlighted the finest writers from French-speaking Belgium, such as Caroline Lamarche, Nathalie Skowronek, and Philippe Marczewski, who seldom received attention in Flanders.
