WLBC-FM (Muncie, IN)

WLBC-FM is a radio station that transmits on 104.1 MHz and is based in Muncie, Indiana. The WLBC name was first associated with its AM station at 1340 kHz, which is now known as WXFN, and was also the name of WLBC-TV Channel 49 before it transitioned to WIPB, a public television station, in the 1970s. Currently, WLBC-FM offers a Hot Adult Contemporary format, featuring a mix of popular music from the 90s to today. Back in the 1970s, WLBC-FM, which was then called WMUN, became one of the pioneering FM stations in Indiana to adopt a contemporary hit format. This move positioned it against the AM station WERK (now also an FM), which initially played the "Solid Gold" automated music package from Drake-Chenault Enterprises, while WLBC-AM focused on more traditional middle-of-the-road music programming.
