(WYMT) – Officials with the Laurel County Public School district released a statement on Tuesday, thanking folks for their work in helping the community recover following last month’s EF-4 tornado. In a post on social media, officials thanked volunteers, local and state officials, first responders, emergency personnel and more for their rebuilding efforts after 17 people were killed in Laurel County.

(WKYT) – Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham were UK teammates on the 2023-24 team. On July 1, Nike is set to release the players’ signature line of shoes. Sheppard was selected No. 3 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by Houston. Sheppard’s version of Nike’s GT Cut 3 Turbo will be a violet-shade with black speckle pain details. The contrasting Nike Swoosh logo is bright crimson. Sheppard’s name “Reed” is embroidered on the tongue of both shoes, making it the only visible reference to the Rockets’ player.

(WKYT) – Kentucky State Auditor Allison Ball is demanding answers from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services after widespread denials of waiver services to children. Last month, WKYT talked to parents who say their children were suddenly dropped from Medicaid services. Auditor Ball says a significant number of special needs children were wrongly denied services during an annual home and community-based waiver review. The error was allegedly made by a subcontractor called Carewise.

(WKYT) – Football fans at Morehead State University will soon have a new name for the stadium. One of Morehead State University’s most famous alums, Super Bowl-winning quarterback Phil Simms (Class of 2015), will have MSU’s football stadium named in his honor. The official dedication ceremony will take place during Homecoming 2025.The naming ceremony for Phil Simms Stadium will be held outside the stadium at 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, October 18. MSU invites the public to attend.
